With no guidelines for state or regional economies, the answer depends on which economist you ask.

Jeff Ostrowski, Palm Beach Post Staff writer, interviewed Tony Villamil, Chief Executive Officer of The Washington Economics Group, Inc., an economic consulting firm based in Coral Gables. CEO Villamil’s answer was “Maybe.” Real estate industry is in a severe downturn, but tourism is holding strong, Villamil noted. And while housing-heavy regions such as Treasury Coast and Naples are suffering, areas such as Miami and Orlando haven’t been hit as hard.
