Miami-Dade Helping Bail Out State

While Florida has seen dramatic declines in consumer spending recently, Miami-Dade County has increased dramatically. According to Tony Villamil, CEO of the Washington Economics Group of Coral Gables, Miami-Dade is a more resilient economy than other counties throughout the State "because we have more diversified economy."
In addition, he said that one key reason is that Miami-Dade's economy is intertwined with Latin America's, which is growing. Plus visitors from other countries have more money to spend since the value of the U.S. dollar has been declining. “With a weaker dollar and growing global economy, you got a good combination for Miami-Dade,” Villamil said.
